IGLs Protest BLAST’s Decision to Allow Astralis Roster Change Ahead of Fall Final 2024
Four in-game leaders (IGLs) have taken to social media to express their frustration with BLAST’s decision to allow Astralis to field cadiaN in place of br0 after the roster lock deadline for the BLAST Fall Final 2024. This move was seen by many as a violation of the rules. Karrigan, Twistzz, Snappi, and apEX all shared identical tweets, suggesting they "might be unfit for media day" in protest.
BLAST declined to clarify to HLTV whether Astralis had provided the required documentation to prove br0's condition, citing confidentiality. Another issue arose as cadiaN wasn’t part of Astralis’ original roster submission, having been signed two weeks after the deadline. Instead, the team’s coach, Casper "Ruggah" Due, was listed, and according to the rulebook, coaches are eligible to substitute. This suggests that Ruggah, rather than cadiaN, should have played in place of br0.
HLTV also reported that several teams have already attempted to protest the decision regarding br0. It remains unclear if the captains will actually boycott media day, but their coordinated posts, shared within an hour of each other, imply a planned move rather than casual banter. The media day is set for September 24, with the tournament kicking off the next day.
