The first day of the ESL One Birmingham 2024 playoffs ended in an unexpected manner. Team Falcons suffered a defeat against Tundra Esports, while OG managed to win only one map against BB Team, and even that was due to a mis-click by BB Team during the draft stage.

Throughout the match, Team Falcons opted for adventurous picks, putting themselves on a timer, while Tundra Esports showcased exceptional late-game prowess. In the first match, skitter failed to shine on Juggernaut. On the second map, playing as Sven against Morphling, they managed to secure a victory. The situation with carry heroes on the third map was similar to the second, but this time, the strength of Morphling was fully realized, leaving Sven ineffective. A confident 2:1 victory in favor of Tundra Esports.

BB Team were the nominal favorites, but OG had decent chances to pull off a mini-upset despite BB winning the first map quickly. On the second map, a curious incident occurred during the draft stage: BB Team ran out of time to ban a hero and accidentally picked Lifestealer when they already had Faceless Void. Both teams had advantages throughout the map, but Timado on Troll Warlord managed to destroy the enemy base. In the deciding map, OG were leading in gold, but unsuccessful fights led to BB Team capitalizing on a Black Hole and winning the match, securing their spot in the tournament semifinals.
