The Road to The International Day 1 Schedule

The first day of The International 2025 promises to be intense and exciting: on September 4, fans can expect eight key matches taking place simultaneously in two time slots. Each match will be played in a best-of-three format, making the confrontations especially unpredictable and thrilling.

The teams participating on Day 1 represent different regions and playstyles, and each will aim to secure a strong position in the tournament from the very start. There won’t be any “easy” matches — even the favorites may face unexpected challenges, while dark horses will try to make a name for themselves on Dota 2’s main stage.

Predictions for Day 1 of The International 2025

Here’s a brief look at our predictions for each match on the first day. Every game at The International is crucial for the teams, and there are no “boring” matches at this event!

Aurora vs Xtreme Gaming

Despite Xtreme Gaming playing with a substitute, xNova replacing poloson, the Chinese roster still looks more stable compared to Aurora. Their hero selections are also more reliable. That said, this match will likely go the full three maps.

Team Spirit vs Wildcard Gaming

Team Spirit, a two-time TI champion, is the clear favorite. This should be an easy series for them, and it will be extremely difficult for the North American squad to take even one map, let alone win the series.

Team Falcons vs Team Nemesis

Similar to the Team Spirit vs Wildcard matchup, Falcons are the obvious favorites. Nemesis might have slightly better chances of taking a map, but winning the series is unrealistic. Falcons, despite some inconsistency, remain on another level compared to Nemesis.

Tundra Esports vs Yakutou Brothers

Tundra Esports is the nominal favorite, but predicting a win is difficult due to a key roster change: Whitemon is replaced by Tobi. Yakutou Brothers could be the tournament’s dark horse, with many in the Dota 2 community feeling they might make a surprising statement at TI.

PARIVISION vs HEROIC

Rumors suggest that after TI, PARIVISION’s carry Satanic might transfer to Tundra Esports. If true, it could affect their performance. However, HEROIC is not strong enough to compete with None and company. PARIVISION should handle this South American squad without major problems.

Team Liquid vs BOOM

Team Liquid is expected to win this match, likely 2:0. While BOOM is not the weakest team at TI, beating Liquid will be a challenge. A clean win would also demonstrate Liquid’s current form and preparation for the tournament.

BB Team vs Nigma Galaxy

BB Team is the nominal favorite. Their drafting issues and team morale might cause problems, but it’s unlikely Nigma can win the series. They might steal a map, but victory for Kuroky and company is highly improbable.

Tidebound vs Natus Vincere

This matchup is hard to predict due to the pressure of TI on the young Natus Vincere roster. Tidebound is the favorite, but Navi could surprise. The outcome will largely depend on how confident and comfortable the players feel.
